What is Blepharoplasty?
The eyes are an attractive component of the face that deserves to be seen; however, an abundance of skin on top or around the eyes can produce an unflattering facial appearance. Dr. Ben Schultz, ABPS Certified, performs eyelid surgery (known as blepharoplasty) to reduce excess skin and rejuvenate the upper or lower eyelid, creating a younger and awakened facial appearance. So many men and women undergo eyelid surgery to eliminate saggy eyelids, leading to improved functionality and facial appearance. Blepharoplasty, whether lower or upper, creates a more awakened appearance and can produce natural yet noticeable improvements. If you are interested in refreshing your eyes with eyelid lift surgery, contact us to schedule a consultation with Dr. Schultz at our office in Baltimore, MD.

How is blepharoplasty performed?
Depending on the complexity of the eyelid surgery, general anesthesia or IV sedation will be provided. This procedure may be performed on the upper eyelid alone, on the bottom portion, or a blend of both upper and lower.
- Upper
Upper eyelid surgery assists in reducing the hanging of skin that droops over the eye to create a more awakened and appealing look. The incision point is often placed along the natural crease to excise skin and tissue. - Lower
Eyelid correction on the lower lid is performed to improve puffy and bulging skin beneath the lower eyelid. The incision is carefully made just under the lash line to surgically remove tissue and fat, and the skin is gently lifted to allow for a flatter, smoother look. In some cases, nonsurgical laser treatment can be incorporated to help with discoloration, while fillers can be used for added volume and smoothness if necessary.

This treatment can help you look refreshed and youthful while offering a beautiful answer to any potential vision impairment concerns.
